Indigenous housing

Tools that respect Nation control.

Indigenous housing is not a vertical at OHC — it is a foundational design principle. Our work supports Nation-led housing planning, delivery, and stewardship under Nation-controlled data.

Indigenous housing

Built with Nations, not for them.

Indigenous housing is not a vertical inside OHC — it is a foundational design principle. Our tools, data agreements, and governance are shaped to support Nation-led housing planning, delivery, and long-term stewardship.

Data sovereignty first

Nation-controlled data stays Nation-controlled. OHC follows OCAP® principles by default — Nations retain ownership, control, access, and possession over their housing data.

Nation-led planning

Tools for long-range housing strategy — on-reserve and off-reserve — that respect Nation governance, land tenure, and community priorities.

Capacity building

Pairing tools with training, so housing departments build durable in-house capability rather than dependence on consultants.

Indigenous-led design

Standardized design tracks co-developed with Indigenous designers, reflecting cultural, climatic, and ceremonial context — not a generic template.

What we offer

Practical support, on Nation terms.

Every engagement starts with a conversation about governance and data control — never with a tool demo.

Long-range housing planning

Tools for Nations to model 5–25 year housing scenarios across on-reserve and off-reserve contexts under their own assumptions.

Nation-controlled data agreements

Bilateral data agreements that codify OCAP® — Nations retain ownership, control, access, and possession of all Nation data.

Indigenous-led design tracks

Standardized design library tracks co-developed with Indigenous designers, climate-zone aware and culturally grounded.

Capacity-building programs

Pairing tools with training so housing departments build durable in-house capability rather than dependence on consultants.

Funding readiness

Support preparing program applications and financial proformas — without surrendering Nation control of the underlying data.

Manufacturer & delivery routing

Connections to offsite manufacturers and delivery partners that have committed to Indigenous-led project standards.

Platform in use

The Indigenous Housing Growth Platform.

A working operations system for Nation-led and Indigenous housing organizations — built around a G0–G10 phase lifecycle, RBAC for nine roles, and project workflows that respect Nation governance.

The Indigenous Housing Growth Platform (IHGP) tracks projects from concept (G0) through occupancy and stewardship (G10), with role-based permissions tuned to how Nation housing departments actually work — Chief and Council, Housing Manager, Project Manager, Maintenance, Finance, Tenant, and partner roles each see what their work requires, and nothing more.

How OHC fits

Open data and standardized designs feed the platform Nations run.

IHGP is operated by Indigenous housing organizations on their terms. OHC’s role is upstream — supplying open parcel data, digital bylaws, and standardized housing designs that Nations can choose to pull into their G0 – G10 workflow. Data control stays with the Nation; OHC stays in the commons.

  • OCAP®-aligned by default
  • Open inputs, Nation-controlled outputs
  • Standardized designs, not imposed designs
  • Capacity-building paired with the tooling
Start with a conversation

If your Nation is exploring housing tools, we would like to listen.

We can begin with a no-commitment conversation about your community’s priorities, data governance, and questions.
